Tippmann Arms M4-22 ELITE .22LR Rifle Selected by Royal Thai Army Territorial Defense Command for Student Training
BANGKOK, Thailand (August 27, 2026) — Tippmann Arms is proud to announce that its M4-22 ELITE .22 LR semi-automatic rifle has been selected and commissioned by the Royal Thai Army (RTA) Territorial Defense Command for use in the Territorial Defense Student Program in Thailand.
The M4-22 ELITE is being introduced to replace the legacy Armi Jager .22 platforms, which have served reserve training units in Thailand for more than 40 years. The selection represents a significant modernization of the Territorial Defense Command's small-arms training equipment and marks an important milestone in Tippmann Arms' growing international presence.
Tippmann Arms was selected for the program because of the company's reputation for producing high-quality, reliable, durable, and easy-to-maintain semi-automatic rifles. The M4-22 ELITE combines the familiar ergonomics and controls of the AR-platform with the economical and low-recoil .22 LR cartridge, providing a practical and realistic platform for marksmanship training.
The M4-22 ELITE is designed and manufactured in the United States and has earned a reputation for reliability, durability, and straightforward maintenance. These characteristics were particularly important in the selection process, given the scale of the Territorial Defense Student Program and its extensive live-fire training infrastructure throughout Thailand.
"We are extremely proud that the Royal Thai Army Territorial Defense Command has selected Tippmann Arms to support its student training program," said Dennis Tippmann Jr., President of Tippmann Arms. "The replacement of a platform that has been in service for more than four decades is a significant undertaking. We are honored that the Territorial Defense Command placed its confidence in the M4-22 ELITE and in Tippmann Arms' commitment to quality, reliability, and ease of maintenance."
Royal Thai Army Ceremony
The announcement comes as the Royal Thai Army held its annual Rank Pinning Ceremony for 5th-year Territorial Defense Students for Academic Year 2026 at the Royal Thai Army Club in Bangkok on August 27.
General Chitsanupong Rodsiri, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, represented the Commander-in-Chief as the presiding officer. The ceremony was hosted by Lieutenant General Narudon Sukma, Commander of the Territorial Defense Command.
Following the rank pinning ceremony, General Chitsanupong visited an exhibition showcasing training activities across the various cadet year levels. The exhibition featured the newly selected Tippmann Arms M4-22 ELITE rifle, highlighting its role in the modernization of the Territorial Defense Command's firearms training program.
Royal Thai Army Territorial Defense Student Program
The Territorial Defense Student Program is a national training program administered by the Royal Thai Army that provides military education, leadership development, physical training, discipline, and marksmanship instruction to students throughout Thailand. The program plays an important role in preparing students for future service while developing leadership, responsibility, discipline, and practical skills.
The program operates an extensive live-fire training infrastructure throughout Thailand, consisting of 34 Provincial Military Student Training Centers. Each provincial military district operates a central Military Student Training Center with its own secured military shooting range serving students from schools within its region.
Students in Bangkok and the surrounding metropolitan area conduct live-fire training at the dedicated Territorial Defense School Shooting Range on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road. Together, these facilities provide 35 live-fire training locations supporting the program's marksmanship instruction across Thailand.
The commissioning of the Tippmann Arms M4-22 ELITE provides the Territorial Defense Command with a modern .22 LR training rifle that is well suited to the demands of a large-scale, multi-location training program. The rifle's familiar controls, low-recoil cartridge, reliability, and ease of maintenance make it an effective platform for developing fundamental marksmanship skills.
